What are
DTF transfers?

DTF stands for Direct-to-Film — a modern printing process in which your design is printed onto a special transfer film and coated with hot-melt adhesive. Unlike classic cut transfers, DTF transfers require no weeding — saving you time and effort.

We print your design in our Stoff³ workshop in Kassel, Germany, cut the transfers to the sizes you need (A4, A3 or 40×50 cm) and send them to you by post. All you need is a heat press or a powerful steam iron to get the design onto your garment.

Advantages over other transfer methods: Full-colour, high-resolution prints — including gradients, photos and complex designs. No film residue around the design. A soft hand feel that sits naturally on the fabric. Washfast at up to 40 °C.

Ideal for: small batches, one-offs, DIY projects, club shirts without your own printing setup, creative sellers and anyone who wants their own design on textiles without running a print shop. If you’re just launching your own streetwear label, DTF transfers are an affordable way to produce your first small batches yourself.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Everything about DTF transfers, file formats and delivery.

Which file format do I need for DTF transfers?
Ideally a PNG with a transparent background (cut out cleanly) at a minimum of 300 DPI. The design must be properly isolated, because DTF transfers reproduce the exact outlines of your artwork. Vector files (.SVG, .AI) are also fine — we convert them.
Which products can I apply DTF transfers to?
DTF transfers work on most textiles: t-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, cotton fabrics, polyester and blends. Important: the garment must withstand the heat of a heat press (approx. 160–175 °C). Not suitable are wool, silk or coated rain jackets.
How much does a DTF transfer cost?
The cost depends on the size and quantity of your design. We offer standard sizes such as A4, A3 and 40×50 cm. The more transfers you order, the cheaper the unit price. Send us your design and quantity — we’ll prepare a free quote.
Is there a minimum quantity?
No, you can order from 1 piece. However, we recommend at least 5 pieces, as the price-performance ratio improves significantly and shipping costs are spread more efficiently.
Which countries do you ship DTF transfers to?
We ship across Germany and to most EU countries. For international orders outside the EU we check shipping conditions individually. Crisis regions and countries under active trade embargoes are excluded.
How do I apply DTF transfers correctly?
Position the design on the garment (glossy side down onto the fabric). Set the heat press to 160–175 °C and press for approx. 10–15 seconds with even pressure. Let it cool briefly, then peel off the carrier film. For best results we recommend a professional heat press rather than a household iron.
