A wall decal is a self-adhesive vinyl film that is precisely cut into the desired shape on a cutting plotter. Unlike printed wallpaper or stickers, a wall decal sits directly on the wall — as if the design had been painted onto it. Incidentally, the same plotter also cuts the films for our vinyl and flock printing on textiles.

At Stoff³ in Kassel we cut every wall decal individually from your design. You send us your logo, lettering, motif or illustration — we convert it into a plotter-ready file and cut the vinyl to your desired size.

Applications: The possibilities are wide-ranging — from children’s rooms to offices, from shop window lettering to vehicle graphics. Vinyl films adhere to almost all smooth surfaces and can be removed without residue when needed.

Which file format do I need for a wall decal?
For wall decals we prefer vector files in .SVG format, because the cutting plotter cuts exactly along the contour lines, which are read optimally from a vector file. Alternatively we also accept .AI, .EPS or high-resolution .PNG files (min. 300 DPI). Important: the design must be clear with clean contours — photos or complex photo montages are not suitable for plotter cutting.
Which surfaces can I apply wall decals to?
Vinyl films adhere to most smooth or lightly textured surfaces: walls (smoothly painted wallpaper, plaster, tiles), glass and windows, furniture surfaces (wood, MDF, lacquer), doors and vehicle bodywork. Not suitable are heavily textured surfaces such as rough plaster, strongly textured wallpaper or unpainted raw concrete — the vinyl will not adhere permanently there.
How do I prepare the surface before applying?
The adhesive vinyl sticks best to clean, dry, dust-free and grease-free surfaces. Before applying, please: clean the surface with a slightly damp cloth, let it dry completely, then wipe it down with a lint-free cloth. Do not use cleaning products containing wax or oil additives. On freshly painted walls, wait at least 4 weeks before applying vinyl.
How do I apply the wall decal?
Your wall decal comes with a transfer film on the front that holds the design together during application. Position the design, tape one side in place, fold up the other side, peel off the backing paper, slowly press the design onto the surface with a squeegee (a credit card works too), then carefully peel off the transfer film. We include instructions on request.
Can I remove the wall decal later?
Yes, most vinyl films — especially on newer surfaces — can be removed without residue, or nearly so. Simply lift a corner and peel it off slowly at a shallow angle. There can be exceptions with old wallpaper or delicate surfaces. Wall decals are not designed for reuse — once removed, they cannot be reapplied.
Which colours are wall decals available in?
We cut from professional vinyl films in a wide range of colours — from white, black and grey to shades like red, blue, green, gold and silver. For precise colour requirements we can match RAL or Pantone colours. Photo prints or colour gradients on vinyl are also possible on request.
